The tale of Star Realms and the iOS App Store is one filled with tragedy and heartbreak. After being rejected during the app submission process at least three times, the future seemed bleak for iOS gamers while Android owners enjoyed their shiny new digital deck-builder. But now, after many trials and tribulations, White Wizard Games have successfully published Star Realms on the iOS App Store and is now available as a free download for Apple mobile gamers.
I haven’t had a chance to test it myself, but early feedback seems (mostly) positive.
While the digital port is a great recreation of the physical card game, apparently the UI is a bit slow and unresponsive at times. A few reviews also point out that the game’s required email registration has been causing headaches for some players, which makes me a bit cautious; Star Realms’ required email registration was allegedly the reason for the app’s most recent rejection from the App Store. Perhaps some kinks in the system yet remain?
I’ll be downloading Star Realms and testing it for myself this weekend, with perhaps a quick look via livestream of the iPad edition. If you’ve had a chance to play Star Realms already, let us know your experiences with the app in the comments. I’m curious to see if any of our readers have encountered the issues raised so far. And after the break, I’ve attached a handful of official screenshots, only because the bottom-thirds attached to each image are so bad, they’re great.
Personally, I wish White Wizard would’ve went with my caption suggestions.
