Ah, Ouija boards. The mysterious piece of wood has terrorized children and teenagers for decades. Now, it comes to the big screen in Ouija, courtesy of Universal Pictures and director Stiles White.
The film looks like your typical modern-day horror schlock, with jump scares and spooky shapes in the corners of each frame. Some girl apparently becomes possessed by a board and kills herself, while her friends use it to communicate with her lingering soul. I think I counted at least 5 dubstep-esque bass drops in the trailer. I didn’t realize dropping sick beats constituted as horror, but hey, I’ll take it.
Legitimately though, I used to be terrified of these things. Growing up in a devoutly Christian home will do that to you.
Did you know that Mattel and Parker Brothers continue to distribute Ouija boards to this day? It even glows in the dark! Scary! Catch the trailer after the break.
